About Weighted Wisdoms
Weighted Wisdoms is a reflective wellness and personal growth platform founded by Nanette Adams, LPC, LMHC, LPCC, a licensed psychotherapist, Pilates instructor, and obesity care advocate.
Through this work, Nanette brings together mental health care, mindful movement, obesity education and advocacy, and compassionate reflection to support people in developing a more grounded relationship with themselves. Her clinical work specializes in caring for people affected by obesity, with particular attention to the emotional effects of weight stigma, body image concerns, life transitions, relationships, and the challenges of navigating healthcare and everyday life in a larger body.
As an obesity care advocate, Nanette is committed to promoting dignity, reducing shame, educating about the biological determinants of weight retention, sharing her knowledge of obesity science, and encouraging more respectful and inclusive conversations about body size, health, and wellbeing. Their approach recognizes that people are more than a number on a scale and deserve mental health care that considers the full complexity of their experiences.
Their work as a Pilates instructor further informs a gentle, adaptable approach to movement—one centered on connection, strength, accessibility, and respect for the body rather than punishment or perfection.
Weighted Wisdoms was created as a place for thoughtful essays, practical insights, and honest conversations about emotional wellbeing, personal growth, movement, identity, and life in a weight-focused world. Rather than offering quick fixes or rigid formulas, it invites readers to pause, reflect, and move forward with greater clarity, self-understanding, and compassion.
Weighted Wisdoms is wisdom with substance—ideas worth carrying into real life.
A quieter approach to growth
Growth does not always need to be dramatic.
Sometimes it begins with a better question, a small change in perspective, or a moment of honesty about what is—and is not—working.
Weighted Wisdoms offers a calm space to pause, reflect, and discover ideas you can carry into your everyday life. There are no perfect routines or one-size-fits-all answers here. Just considered guidance for becoming more grounded, aware, and intentional.
